Welcome to the official website of the Toolsnstuff.co.uk/SIP TVRCC Challenge Cup

2005 is going to be the best so far for the TVR Car Club's very own racing series. There will be exciting new cars, new drivers, a new higher profile, new venues and a new sponsor providing new cash prizes, and a factory test in a new Sagaris or T350 race car for the overall series winner. All this is additional to the fun and excitement of last years championship.

The Toolsnstuff.co.uk/SIP TVRCC Challenge Cup will remain committed to the principles of providing accessible Motorsport for TVR enthusiasts. That means ordinary people being able to race against each other in Big Engined, Noisy, Rear Wheel Drive, British Sports Cars.

When Steve Lewis first established the series in 2000 it was decided to limit the entry to Tasmin 280s only. This was a great way to get started not only for the series, but also for the mostly novice competitors. As the series grew, pressure from existing drivers for more power and pressure from non-Tasmins to allow them to join in meant that in 2004 the entry was opened up to all sorts of different shapes and sizes of TVR. In the end though, despite an influx of Griffiths, a 3000M and even a Tuscan Challenge car, the 2004 championship was still secured by one of the original Tasmins, albeit with a Cosworth Turbo engine and a Steve Lewis at the wheel. This was a particularly fitting result, since after 5 years of hard slog and often unappreciated commitment, this year will be the first without Steve at the helm, or on the grid, as he takes a well earned rest.

Despite all the changes, the basic formula for the series will be much the same with two main classifications of TVR.

Both classes, A & B, will be limited by power to weight ratio to allow close racing without the need for a small fortune to become competitive. Class A will be for lower powered cars like Tasmins or small V8s. Class B will be for more powerful cars like big V8 Griffiths, Chimaeras or Cerberas as well as detuned Tuscan Challenge cars.

As with last year, there will also be an invitation class, competing for the RT Racing trophy, where TVRs which cannot meet the power to weight regulations can also compete. This year, there will be at least one historic Griffith entered in this class and a one-off wedge shaped Tuscan.

The calendar for 2005 ensures that these intrepid racing TVRs will be seen all over the UK, from Knockhill and Croft in the North to Pembrey in the west, to Cadwell Park in the east and to Silverstone and Brands Hatch (Grand Prix circuit) in the south, and not forgetting Donington and Mallory Parks in the middle. This year the TVRCC Challenge Cup cars will also be appearing on the high profile Britcar Bill at the Silverstone and Brands Hatch rounds, so there really wont be any excuse for not coming to watch. Below is a run down of the competitors and teams you can expect to see at these events.

And as if all this wasn't enough, ToolsnStuff.co.uk and SIP will be putting up a massive £10,000 prize fund to be spent on their huge range of tools and workshop equipment. So, if you fancy the latest SIP 7 Drawer toolbox, or you're fed up with not being allowed to overtake at track days, or if you just want to experience the thrill of your life, or even if you just want to see and hear TVRs doing what they were made for, come and join the Toolsnstuff.co.uk/SIP TVRCC Challenge Cup.
