The Drivers
Graham Walden (Worcestershire)
Race Number: 2
Home Town: Kidderminster
Class: B
Car: Tuscan
Engine: Rover V8 (400)
Date of Birth: 17/01/69
Team: Black Cat Racing
Occupation: Company Director 2004 Form: 2nd Overall - Class A champion
2004 saw Graham emerge from entertaining midfielder to Class A champion and 2nd overall in the Series. The highlight of the season was a fine victory over, eventual champion, Steve Lewis at Cadwell Park. For the 2005 Season Graham has acquired Andy Holden's Tuscan Challenge race car (ex number 6) which is busily being fitted with a rover V8 to run in class B. The car will be run by Graham and his dad (Pops) with assistance from Moore Racing and volunteers from Pistonheads.com. When asked about his prospects for this year, Graham commented "I'm really looking forward to the 2005 season. The new car will take some bedding in and it will take time to learn how to set it up, so we'll see how the season goes. With the wide variety of competition this year it's going to be a hoot"
Simon Bowes (Wiltshire)
Race Number: 3
Home Town: Marlborough
Class: B
Car: Griffith
Engine: Rover V8 (520)
Date of Birth: 28/02/64
Team: V8 Racing
Occupation: Business Consultant 2004 Form: 3rd
In the end 2004 was disappointing for the V8 Racing team. As defending champions from 2003, a new car meant that expectations were not too high at the start of the season. However, with six wins, Simon and the team were in contention throughout the season, until an engine failure put paid to any championship ambitions at Mallory Park. Expectations are higher for 2005 with a car they know much more about, and a new V8 Developments 5.2 litre motor. However, with the competition hotting up, Simon will be relying on the expertise of Noel at V8 Sports & Classics to keep them challenging arch rivals Moore Racing through to the end of the season.
Steve Hall (Derbyshire)
Race Number: 4
Home Town: Chesterfield
Class: Invitation
Car: Tuscan/Tasmin
Engine: AJP V8
Date of Birth: It's a Mystery Team: RT Racing
Occupation: Salesman
2004 Form: 1st Invitation Class
Steve and Richard Thorpe of RT Racing are the trailblazers of the largely unregulated Invitation Class. Having grown bored with frightening low flying aircraft in 2004 with the Turbo powered "Thorpedo", Steve Hall will compete in a Tasmin bodied Tuscan Challenge car. This will be something to behold, and is guaranteed to draw a big crowd. As long as Steve can hang on to it, and keep it on the Tarmac, the new Thorpedo should be one of the highlights of the series in 2005.
Paul Glynn (Leicestershire)
Race Number: 5
Home Town: Melton Mowbray
Class: B Car: Griffith
Engine: Rover V8 (500)
Date of Birth: It's a Mystery
Team: TMS Racing
Occupation: Workshop Manager
2004 Form: 2nd Invitation Class
Paul was an enthusiastic newcomer to the series last year, having previously raced the distinctive red TMS Griffith in the 750MC series. A professional setup brought a touch of glamour to the TVR paddock last year, as well as a very efficient and generous coffee machine in their extensive race marquee. At the wheel of the TMS car, Paul made an immediate impact, by winning his first two races at Cadwell and Snetterton. For 2005, Paul and TMS will once again be the class of the field with a new engine and occasional reserve driver Steve Guglielmi. This year, they will be competing for championship points in Class B.
Richard and Ben Wright (West Yorkshire)
Race Number: 9
Home Town: Wakefield
Class: Invitation
Car: Tuscan
Engine: 4.2 AJP V8
Date of Birth: It's a Mystery
Team: TMS Racing
Occupation: TVR Enthusiast
2004 Form: N/A

As the owner of the original TVR 2, it is fair to say that Richard Wright has to be one of the most enthusiastic TVR supporters you will meet. Working with TMS last year in their racing activities gave Richard and his son Ben some brilliant weekends with the TVRCC Challenge Cup at various circuits around the country. The camaraderie in the paddock coupled with the bond at TMS gave Richard and Ben the enthusiasm to have a go themselves. A chance meeting at Le Mans with a Tuscan Challenge driver, whilst under the influence of several bottles of Moet at Chandon, resulted in a busy winter for Richard and TMS as they fitted an old Cerbera engine to their new acquisition.

Ben is also a huge fan and enthusiast of motor sport. He is currently at Huddersfield University doing a degree in Motor Sport Technology. The Tuscan rebuild has been part of his studies, he also has aspirations to race the car at some point later in the season.

Pat Smith (Yorkshire)
Race Number: 10
Home Town: Barnsley
Class: B
Car: Tasmin Convertible
Engine: 2.0 Cosworth Turbo
Date of Birth: Grandad
Team: Moore Racing
Occupation: Property Agent
2004 Form: 10th
Dont let that 10th position overall in 2004 be misleading. Pat has always been a contendor since he joined the Tasmin Challenge 4 years ago. Family commitments in 2004 limited scoring, despite his first ever win at Pembrey. However, for 2005 Pat will be fully committed in his Moore Racing prepared, flame throwing, Cosworth Turbo Tasmin.
Cliff Jobson (Northamptonshire)

Race Number: 27
Home Town: Northampton
Class: B
Car: Tasmin S2
Engine: 2.9 Ford Cosworth V6
Date of Birth: 23/09/66
Team: Joospeed
Occupation: Designer
2004 Form: 5th

Pembrey 2004 was Cliffs first and second car race since he acquired his racing license. Despite this, he grabbed two third places in Class A, and eventually pulled off a marvellous 5th place overall. Cliff teamed up with Julian at Joospeed, and bought the ex Mark Russell Tasmin which was third in the old series in 2003. For 2005, the old 2.8 Cologne has been replaced with a new 2.9 Cosworth which should make the car very competitive in class B. With enthusiastic support from his family and friends during the season, expect Cliff to be up with the big boys in his bright yellow machine.
Tim Broughton (Nottinghamshire)
Race Number: 33
Home Town: Mansfield
Class: A
Car: Tasmin S2
Engine: 2.8 Ford V6
Date of Birth: 19/11/52
Team: RT Racing
Occupation: North Sea Ferry Driver
2004 Form: 9th
2004 was Tims first season in the TVRCC Challenge Cup. Having inherited a consistently tail end car, it rapidly became apparent that this was not Tims first outing in a race car. He defied the cars earlier performance to record a 3rd in class in his first round at Cadwell Park. This proved to be his worst result of the season, as he recorded class wins in all the other races his job allowed him to enter. The rest of the competitors can think themselves lucky that he spent half of the season on the North Sea driving a Ferry. Tim is probably the favourite for the championship in 2005 as he has given his car a major performance overhaul, and will be able to use his previous grasstrack and short circuit experience at most rounds. Class B outfits should watch out!
Steve Watton (Worcestershire)
Race Number: 34
Home Town: Worcester
Class: Invitation
Car: 1962 Griffith 200
Engine: 4.7 Ford V8
Date of Birth: 02/12/59
Team: Team 34 Racing
Occupation: Contracts Manager
2004 Form: N/A

2005 will be Steve's first year in the Challenge Cup. He and Team 34 Racing have been restoring and preparing the car for the last three years. His classic Griffith originated in New Jersey where it had been languishing in a garage for 20 years following a serious rear end shunt, and a rather poor attempt at rebuilding. Doug Ellwood from David Gerald TVR imported it and Steve bought it from him at the end of 2001. It has owner history and no doubt one day it will end up doing FiA historic events as well.

Having spent so much time preparing the car, Steve is really looking forward to getting it on track. Although it will be devastatingly fast, he expects that it could be a slow process making the car competitive and learning how to handle so much power in such a short wheelbase. With years of racing experience in a variety of machinery, he is bound to be up to speed sooner than he thinks

Glyn Morris (Essex)
Race Number: 53
Home Town: Saffron Walden
Class: B Car: Tuscan
Engine: Rover V8 (500)
Date of Birth: Post WW2
Team: Moore Racing
Occupation: Director of a professional negligence insurance underwriting company
2004 Form: Spectator
Glyn is yet another racing rookie for 2005, although he is a veteran of the TVRCC having been a member now for 25 years. Having acquired a road legal TVR Tuscan, Glyn had no intention of going racing until he met Richard Moore of Moore Racing. The two met at a trackday last year where Glyn asked Richard for some advice on the engine in the car. As a Tuscan owner, Moore suggested that he should be racing, not "$*@?ing around on trackdays"! With the first race of the series imminent, Glyn wont have long to wait before he is. The car will certainly be fast.
Kevan Gore (Norfolk)
Race Number: 55
Home Town: Kings Lynn
Class: B
Car: Tasmin S1
Engine: 2.0 Cosworth Turbo
Date of Birth: 26/05/56
Team: Moore Racing
Occupation: Playboy
2004 Form: 8th
Having started out racing his nephew at Scalextric, Kevan has come a long way to have taken a glorious first ever win at Pembrey last year. Over the years, he has acquired a reputation for smooth flawless driving and is much appreciated by his team for his ability to nurse his car to consistent, low maintenance finishes. His stylish driving technique means that he suffers very low brake wear. Sure to be up among the leaders at the end of the season.
Gary Coulson (Hampshire)
Race Number: 63
Home Town: Salisbury
Class: A
Car: Tasmin S1
Engine: Ford 2.8i V6
Date of Birth: 1955
Team: Moore Racing
Occupation: Landscape Architect
2004 Form: 7th
Having accepted the TVRCC special offer for an ARDS license, 2004 was Garys first outing in any kind of racing car. His introduction to the series came after reading an article in TVR Sprint magazine. He contacted Richard Moore at Moore Racing and agreed to hire a car for just four races. Before he had completed his first weekend of competition, Gary had decided to buy his car outright and entered every race of the season. The high point of his year came at Rockingham on the banked oval circuit, where he scored his first ever podium. In 2005, Gary will once again be racing in Class A, but with one years experience under his belt he can expected to be a regular trophy winner.
David Reynolds (London)

Race Number: 64
Home Town: London
Class: B
Car: Tasmin S1
Engine: 2.0 Cosworth Turbo
Date of Birth: Young
Team: Moore Racing
Occupation: Telecoms Engineer
2004 Form: 6th

Dave was attracted to the series last year by the TVRCC special offer to subsidise the ARDS race test. Having passed only a few weeks before his first race at Pembrey, he claimed to be incredibly nervous as he prepared for the grid. He must have got over his nerves pretty quickly, since he finished third overall. A string of class leading performances confirmed that Dave is a real find in TVR racing. This year he will be a top performer, and will be easily the fittest driver on the grid.
Marc Hockin (Devon)

Race Number: 114
Home Town: Bideford
Class: B
Car: Griffith 500
Engine: Rover V8 (500)
Date of Birth: 24/04/84
Team: TVR Power
Occupation: Mason and Builder
2004 Form: N/A

Marc is the TVRCCs own Jenson Button, having learned his racecraft in karts from the age of twelve. By eighteen he was exploring the limits of his fathers Cerbera at various track days, so a 300BHP Griffith should be no problem.

Marc and his father, Tony, were inspired to visit the TVR paddock last year having seen coverage of the series in TVR Sprint magazine. After asking questions of the existing race teams, they decided to take the plunge and join in for 2005.

Having acquired an accident damaged Griffith, Tony is burning the midnight oil to get the car ready for the first race. Their engine has been rebuilt and dry sumped by their sponsors, TVR Power. By now, with help and advice from TVR Power and the other TVRCC race teams, the rollcage will have been fitted, the chassis sprayed, the drive train, gearbox and body refitted as well as a full respray.
